SWANA Safety Award

The Safety Award embodies the solid waste industry’s commitment to improving employee safety. SWANA supports and encourages advancing efforts to reduce accidents and injuries in the waste industry. Each year SWANA will select a topic of interest for the Safety Award.

2027 Safety Topic: Motor Vehicle Incident Prevention Program

Applications close on August 21st, 2026.

Eligibility

Applicant must be an organization that collects, processes, or otherwise disposes of municipal solid waste or recycling, or designs landfill systems and/or works around their components. The individual submitting the application must be a SWANA member. SWANA Members may submit non-SWANA members for this award.

 

Judging

Applications will be reviewed by members of the SWANA-WI Safety Award Committee. Additional information may be requested verbally or in writing to evaluate the application further.

 

Recognition

Winners are recognized in the following ways

  • Award ceremony at WIRMC

  • Safety Resource Center at WIRMC

  • SWANA-WI Newsletter

  • SWANA-WI website and social media

Winners or the SWANA-WI Safety Committee on their behalf will lead a track session on their safety topic at WIRMC.
