SWANA - WI Badger Chapter

The SWANA WI Young Professionals had a great event removing  5-10 bags of garbage from the Yahara River including a few tires, a bowling ball, and some scrap metal.

The annual Wisconsin Integrated Resource Management Conference was held at Chula Vista in Wisconsin Dells. The event was full of professional development and great networking opportunities. The YPs host a social networking event every year. This year the highlight was the tower building competition during the opening night.  

Dane County invited members for a tour of their operations in May 2019. The tour included an overview of their new Biogas facility (conversion of LFG to RNG), their HHW facility, and the C&D Recycling Facility. Thank you Ali Rathsack for coordinating and giving the tour!

On an annual basis the Board of Directors meet in person to vote in new and incumbent board members in addition to discussing and passing the annual budget and other agenda items. You don't need to be a board to directors to attend the annual meeting or to join in on monthly board member calls.

The annual Wisconsin Integrated Resource Management Conference was held virtually due to the COVID 19 Pandemic. Meeting annually is important in this industry even when travel is not safe. This year's event had 4 outstanding national speakers and 20 additional sessions to engage attendees and share the latest in the industry. Click Here for images from the event. 

Badger Chapter members met up in Wisconsin Dells at the Chula Vista Resort for the Annual in-person board meeting, followed by a sustainability tour of the resort, Go-Karts, ice cream, pizza and beverages. Join us at the WIRM Conference at the Chula Vista in February for more fun!

The YPs met up in April for YP Week - Madison. They enjoyed tours of 4 local breweries highlighting sustainable aspects of their operations. Breweries included: The Great Dane Pub & Brewing Company, Bos Meadery, Giant Jones Brewing Company, and Working Draft Beer Company.

SWANA BC was part of a coalition of Solid Waste & Wastewater Industry organizations presenting their perspective on PFAS. This session was recorded and is available for viewing online. CLICK HERE.
