Board of Directors 2021 Elections

We have 5 board member seats open for election. Please take a moment to review the candidates below and then click the VOTE NOW button to make your selection via the online ballot. You will have to enter your email to make the ballot valid.

Online voting is open through September 22nd. Live voting is available at the Annual Membership Meeting on September 23rd. This meeting will be conducted as a hybrid meeting: Zoom (online) or Milford Hills in Johnson Creek (in-person).

Chris Anderson

Chris Anderson has 25-years of experience as an environmental engineer working in the solid waste industry.  Chris has a BS degree from the University of Minnesota in geological engineering.  He has worked for state regulatory agencies in Minnesota and Massachusetts and has spent the last 18-years working as a consulting engineer and project manager for Foth Infrastructure & Environment, LLC in Green Bay, Wisconsin.  Chris has been active as a Wisconsin SWANA member since 2001 and a board member since 2002.  Chris is a licensed professional engineer in Wisconsin and has extensive experience in landfill and transfer station permitting, design, operations, and strategic planning.

Nate Schneider

Nate is interested in serving on the SWANA board. He is a Site Manager for GFL Environmental.  Nate has worked in the solid waste industry just shy of 15 years. He started out at a MRF, and then became a swing driver and driver trainer. He transferred to Hickory Meadows LF in 2010 to become the site’s first resident gas tech. He was promoted to operations manager in fall of 2017 and site manager in fall of 2020. His background includes all aspects of daily landfill operations, heavy equipment, landfill gas and leachate O&M, gas-to-energy, budget forecasting, project bidding, safety training, compliance, site planning and expansion as well as relations with our host community. He has a vast background and feels coming from a private solid waste company could benefit the organization. In his free time Nate serves as the assistant fire chief in his hometown (Chilton). He is married with two boys, ages 16 and 8.

George Shereda

George Shereda has received BS degrees from the Wayne State University Civil Engineering Program and the Michigan State University Environmental Science Program and is a Senior Engineer in TRC’s Madison, Wisconsin office.  George has over 11 years of experience in the solid waste industry working with active and closed landfills across the Unites States.  He has extensive experience in the permitting, design and construction of municipal, construction and demolition, and residual waste landfills. He engages with technical improvement initiatives in the industry, promotes mentoring & training, and confidently leads projects. George has been an active member of the Wisconsin Badger Chapter Young Professional group of SWANA for the past 4 years. For the past 3 years he has led monthly YP group conference calls, coordinated networking and social events, and promoted YP membership in Wisconsin. He has been participating on the scholarship and membership/safety committees as a Board Member for the past 2 years.

David Hagenbucher

David Hagenbucher is the Operations Manager for Marathon County Solid Waste, overseeing solid waste facilities and recycling programs that serve a large portion of Central Wisconsin. Mr. Hagenbucher graduated from UW Stevens Point in 2012, earning a degree Soil and Waste Resource Management. Throughout his 11 years of experience in the waste industry, he has specialized in landfill construction and operations. David recently served as the YP Representative on SWANA’s International Board of Directors, and is an active Board member for SWANA’s Badger Chapter. He continues to focus efforts on increasing YP involvement and promotes student opportunities within the waste industry. He has served as a mentor for college students and YPs interested in waste management, including guest lecturing at universities, educating students on the importance of sustainability and recycling, and influencing YPs to become the leaders of tomorrow.

Allison Rathsack

Allison Rathsack is Special Projects & Materials Manager at Dane County’s Department of Waste & Renewables and has been a member of SWANA since 2016.  She holds a bachelors of Civil Engineering, with an environmental and geotechnical emphasis,  from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.  Allison is a very active Wisconsin Badger Chapter YP and AROW Emerging Leader.  She helps to plan networking events, contributes to the YP newsletter, collaborates on a statewide YP week, and has helped plan zero waste events, among other things. 

 

Allison has over 5 years of in-depth solid waste experience and currently manages a variety of Dane County’s projects including their most notable start-up of a renewable natural gas facility that processes landfill gas into pipeline grade natural gas.  She leads and or collaborates on many other projects at Dane County including: landfill construction oversight and documentation, landfill gas and leachate management, permitting, regulatory compliance, contracting, and landfill safety.  Allison is a dependable, competent, and driving force at Dane County and within the solid waste industry.  She is extremely interested in continuing her term on the Board of Directors to further contribute to the Chapter and the industry.
